Dear friends, We are happy to introduce a new project TipeCast TALKS at the Gilyarovsky Center. TipeCast TALKS offers a new “after show talk” experience. “After show talks” are a common feature for English theatre goers who like to discuss the play which they have just seen whilst it is fresh in their minds. It gives a chance to grill the Director or leading actor on some aspect of the performance. This idea came to me when I had the good fortune to meet legendary British film maker Derek Jarman at a Cambridge Cinema where he talked about Wittgenstein and Lindsay Anderson. “Happy Prince” is a story described by Oscar Wilde as “intended to be read to children.” So here is an interesting question - is it a children’s story? With its leading character being a talking swallow who develops an interesting relationship with the town statue of a “Happy Prince” one would think so. But what about the content? Did you ever read it closely? Our interpretation is underscored by original chamber music and frames the story within a physical and lyrical context. A play about the role of the artist and the immutability of the soul, “Intended to be read to children.” Do come. Yours, Martin Cooke, Theatre director
